The incident that prompted the activity began on Thursday evening, Feb. 1 at a residence in Briarcliff Manor on Tuttle Road, where a disturbance was reported to Briarcliff Manor Police, the department announced on Friday, Feb. 2.

Soon after authorities learned of the incident, Westchester County Police extended support by deploying resources such as a helicopter, drone, K9 unit, and the department's special response team. Additionally, Ossining Police also helped with the response as well.

The department declined to release additional information about the disturbance, as it is still under investigation. However, authorities believe it was isolated in nature and that there is no threat to the general public.

"We recognize that the presence of the helicopter and additional resources may have caused concern among our residents; we assure you that ensuring the safety and security of our community is always our top priority," the department wrote on social media, also urging residents to avoid spreading speculation and rumors about the incident.

"The facts surrounding this event are being thoroughly investigated, and misinformation does not contribute to our community's safety or wellbeing," the department said.

Police also encouraged residents to take steps to protect their property, including removing valuables from vehicles, locking cars and homes, closing and locking garage doors, and turning on exterior lights.

More information is expected to be released by the department.
